Impreza question
Sorry but am pretty sure that could not have been a P1 (or the driver wasn't pushing it) - I love my S2000 but there's just NO WAY it could compete with my mate John's P1 on the road.
She does perform very well against standard Imprezzas though !

If its a standard UK spec Impreza Turbo or UK WRX they would be very evenly matched and to say
is pure fantasy unless your driving on a rally circuit.
If its a P1 or a Jap WRX then it probably would leave the S2000 for dead as they usually have at least 280BHP, different type of animal all together.
trust me the Impreza I have will leave the S2000 behind like it was going backwards!!!

Followed a nice shiney 02 reg Impreza STI UK yesterday. We were obviously thinking along the same lines.
Coming onto a slip road (both obviously in second gear at 40mph+) and with me behind I waited fro him to go and floored it. We both jousted to 110mph and there was nothing to choose between both cars.
The car which had slowed him down moved over and the same thing happened .... and once again the same, although I stopped at 120mph and backed off to avoid losing my licence feeling that a point on both sides had been made.
In response to W6DAN re: P1. When I had my Evo VI you never really pulled away from cars as quickly as you might have imagined. 30-70mph on Evo was 4.6s and S2k is 5.2s.
In the real world 0.6s is nothing.
At 0-100mph Evo was at 12.3s, S2k at 14.3 (Standard Impreza turbo in excess of 15.0 and slower than Fiat Coupe Turbo at 14.6s).
Even 2 seconds in the real world doesn't look as big as it looks on paper.

Dog Buscuit, John's Imprezza P1 has been modified and delivers well over 300 bhp.
Prior to the P1 he had a 2 yr old Lotus Esprit V8, also lightly modified. He reckons it was pretty slow compared with the P1 now.
Honestly, the car pulls away from anything at a ridiculous rate. The S2000, which I dearly love, would get trounced.
But you have to remember 2 things :
1) A normal Imprezza or even STi is nothing like the P1 (mentioned before). A modified P1 is yet another step up the performance laddder.
2) The S2000 is a beautiful looking convertible - the Imprezza is the opposite on both counts, IMHO.
