Default Le Mans 2008 - Entry List

The ACO have finally published the entry list for 2008

http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans/actu/...GD_2524_gb.html

A couple of surprises, no Team LNT or Scuderia Ecosse, six diesels now in LMP1 and two Creation chassis's entered, two Porsche RS Spyders in LMP2 and not so many Porsches in GT2 for once.

Is this becoming a nothing race at the front, with only 2 manufacturer teams entering? The rest seem to be more interested in F1 these days and Porsche not at all.

Have they made the rules the same for diesels and petrols yet, or are they still letting the diesels have bigger engines?

No need to worry about the engines, they just need to give the petrol cars a 30 lap headstart

Rich, I can't see your name on there

The diesels have smaller fuel tanks this year and the LMP1 petrol cars have reduced restrictors, so the performance gap should diminish, but it will still be a field led by the diesels.

I'm not sure about the 'nothing at the front' comment, there are some very known endurance manufacturers on the list again, they just aren't household names!

My nothing at the front comment was referrring to the fact that in recent years it's been pretty much guaranteed that Audi will win, especially given the relative lack of resources of the other teams, well respected or not.

Admittedly, Peugeot's arrival will mean there is a more of a race at the front, but the winner is pretty much known (not that different to F1 I'll happily admit)

I'd love to see Audi have two teams, petrol and diesel, competing with similar budgets and rules.

Never underestimate the French to 'adjust' the rules to suit home teams.

Pescarolo have been given 'Le Main Aidante' on more than one occasion.

What's happened to them? Are they doing the British or European FIA GT Championship these days?

Always relied on them (Kinch and Kirkaldy) for some Scottish representation at Le Mans ...
