What 20-odd races, a fair proportion of which he has won?
After the 1st 18 races of his career he finished in front of the only real guage of an F1 driver - his team mate....the reigning world champion. And one point behind the winning driver.
3/4 of the way through his 2nd season, he leads the drivers championship, which he may well (and in my opinion will
) win.
Good job people gave Mansell a better crack of the whip.
& Schmacher.
& Senna.
& Villeneuve
& Alonso.

Seems we Brits like our sportsmen to be humble and not to act 'better' than us, even when clearly they are.
For what it's worth, watching Hamilton race is the only thing I find interesting about current F1. He has a lot of natural talent, but he's immature. I think he's destined to become one of the greats.
Arrogant? Of course he's arrogant - name a successful recent F1 driver that isn't!
I'm firmly in the 'F1 is too damn safe' camp.........
Motorsport is supposed to have an element of risk - these huge tarmac run off areas are simply ridiculous.
Chicanes and corners should have gravel and/or grass to prevent cutting the corner giving you an advantage - seems pretty simple to be honest.

Hamilton currently falls on the cock side (if you'll excuse the expression)
He can say he's the best when he's won something.
He can say he knows more than Ferrari when he's won as many titles.
Showing off in the hearing, suggests immaturity rather than confidence or even arrogance.
And bringing back the "risk" to formula one by removing the tarmac run-offs brings us back to the original incident and no doubt others by Hamilton (and others). No run-off at the chicane puts Hamilton out of the race.
Equally, removing all the run-offs would certainly impede Hamilton's supposedly viewer friendly gung-ho driving style. You don't take risks if there's a gravel trap, you do take them if there's a handy short cut.......sorry, safe run-off area.
Do you think that Hamilton meant to say he knows more about F1 than Ferrari, or he meant to say that he knows more about F1 than Ferrari's lawyer?
He is a bit of a cock, no-one's arguing that point, only the degree of cock-ness may be in debate.
FWIW, lots of drivers cut chicanes in the last race, in some cases gaining on the car they were chasing because of it, which is gaining an advantage I'd have thought. No penalties handed out though.

Tozzi told Hamilton to "stop personalising" the issue as he was under instruction from Ferrari, who "know as much about Formula One as you do".
Hamilton responded: "With respect, I doubt it."

Hamilton is saying that he doubts that Ferrari know as much about Formula one as he [Hamilton] does.
That's way up there on the cock-ometer as far as I'm concerned.
Not necessarily accurate reporting...Found this in The Times http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/for...icle4806012.ece
[QUOTE]The hearing, to which McLaren sent an 11-strong team, featured Hamilton's debut as a legal street-fighter and the 23-year-old World Championship leader delivered some classic lines as he battled with Nigel Tozzi, QC, representing Ferrari. At one point he shot back to Tozzi:
