Default Lotus Exige

My son is changing his car and the Toyota powered Exige is looking to be a good option , and with the Toyota lump i am confident it will be reliable .

His other option, that he likes the thought of ,is a 911 style Porsche for about 30k.
Amazingly insurance is a bargain

Amazingly insurance is a bargain 31150 for him at age 23 so its definitely on , but i am probably scaring him with the thought of high running costs .

Any other options we are missing ?

I drove an Exige (albeit the S1 variant) once on a trackday. Brilliant car - handled like it was on rails albeit it seemed to lack the legs on the straights.
The Toyota 190 version has a top speed in the 140's so hopefully this is great improvement to the car .

Been a passenger in an Exige and lordy it felt quick and stable.

Not sure what id go for though, think a 996 would be my first choice if i had 30k, simply because the Exige is purely a fun car for weekends and not really practical etc, the Porsche would def impress more i think.

I'm 23 and id cut my balls off for a 911, the women will love him

Depends what he wants from a car though, if its simply weekend fun then Lotus.

If its everyday use, luxury and speed he wants then it has to be a 911.

Ditto was on an air field day, it stuck to the tight track like glue so much so I felt sick when I got out!

Two diffrent cars really if you want comfort etc. its got to be the Porker.

It has to be an every day user , and also carry the odd server or 2 so the 911 wins there , as it does in the poseur stakes

may also have a better residual in 2 years time .

Seen an Exige on a track day, went past it, chatted to driver.

Personally, I'd have an Elise, in order to let some of the heat out. They're sweaty, with the glued-on roof.

But a lovely car. I'm sure it would have been very fast, if the guy wasn't looking after his new tyres.

The Toyota bits are fine, best to carry a toolkit to re-attach teh Lotus bits to the Toyota bit.

I love Elises & dislike 993s, so I'm biased.
