605 is a good shout. As with all Pugs check the electrics are ok. My mate bought one for 200 quid a few months back and had no problems whatsoever. Not even any creaks or rattles inside and its done 140k.

I recently parked the S in a ditch/hedge and whilst waiting for the insurance to come through bought a Mundano at the local car auctioons for 1200. (W reg 1.8 TD, 77k) Ended up needing new discs and bushes at the front at a cost of

I've got a 750iL v12 limo

Trust me you don't want a 7 series for 1k.

What about those Daekiadai Lalala V6 barges?

Servicing/repair costs are outrageous, so you could probably get an ex-demo V6 for a bag of sand!

Cheers folks, much as I thought.

My thought was buy with MOT and bin it if it is going to cost, bit of a gamble I know

Or up the spend to get something more reliable

I'll never go Mundano or Vectra - Hate them.

Thinking large luxo - 5 series possibly, but would prefer 7, Jag, etc. and auto

You can pick up straight 6 XJRs on an N plate for about 3K

Thats as low as I would go on the Jag market

View any 1K luxobarge as a 3-4K car and put the money in a high interest account for when you need it.

If you approach it that way you will do ok (and get someone who knows something about the particular car to come along and have a check, or pay a dealer to look it over)

worth a look:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Omega-2-6-V...1QQcmdZViewItem

and

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2000-W-REG-VAUXHALL-...1QQcmdZViewItem

2,5/2.6 is the engine to have

Elite spec most desirable, but harder to get

I buy and sell these cars from time to time

Anything you want to know, just give me a shout

I was thinking an Omega would be a great interim solution for my tow car dilemma, soooooo undesirable

They're just too long for my garage
