M3 non smooth brakes
Recently i've noticed the brakes on the M have felt a bit... Rough
The iDrivel claims all is well but they feel like the pads are fooked to me. I'll pull the wheels off this weekend but it feels like a low frequency grind when i apply reasonable force
Anything to look out for?

I might be wrong as i dont know the brake pad design for the M3 but i have experienced rough braking before and when i removed the pads the little grove in the middle of the pad was full of brake dust. I used a screw driver to clean it out and the issue seemed much better. Might be worth a shout

Grinding sounds like pads wearing out but that should be visible even with the wheels on. If the pads are OK it may be a suspension conponent. On my STR worn bushes in the front control arms produce a vibration with high speed braking and garages blame everything from pads to buckled wheels. Is the noise consistent at all speeeds? That would suggest pads or discs are the most likely suspects.

I would second Gadd's hypothesis.
My A8 has had a minor vibration under light, slow speed braking for a while and which I attributed to a warped disc. The car went for an MOT on Wednesday of this week and failed on one item; a cracked NSF coil spring. Both front springs have been replaced and the vibration under braking has completely disappeared.
S'funny but I never noticed the broken spring; with hindsight, the only clue was a very slightly off centre steering wheel, which I attributed to the tracking being slightly out. There was no out of he ordinary noise from he suspension and the ride of the car was as cosseting as ever...

Didnt get chance yesterday to look at this.
Thats certainlt the common view Ron but this aint a track car and unlike with the S on oem pads i've never cooked em so they will do me. The discs are fooking huge so maybe a big caliper kit would do but not for me.

Just about every M3 made has come in for criticism of the brakes - but only on track.
Just in case anyone hasn't noticed, the M3 is a road car.
My Datsun has good brakes on the road but I don't doubt I could cook them on a track pdq.
Does that mean the brakes are crap?
