It's a shame that such a good piece of kit has been commandeered by jumped up Asian lads, round here at least.

I would never own one on that basis.

M5s are a different story however

Bling factor, I suppose. Many seem to think they are gangsta rappers, and that's what 50 Cent etc would have in the courtyard on MTV Cribs. Just like Wigga's, I think in Glasgow there is a definite Asiagga phenomenon.

Don't EVER do this.

M3s come in ONE derivative. Coupe ONLY.

The convs are very, very, very wrong.

Ooooh I'd love to see it on the Nurburgring....did you see that German bint on Top Gear in a Diesel transit burn up the ring flying past fireblades, and all sort of performance cars driven by people who didn't know the ring and or how to drive their wheels etc.....absolutely awesome...

Schumacher in the Focus 2.0TDCi & you in the M5.....I'd have all my money on him mind.....
(No offence but a) he can drive no matter what it is
b) I'm sure he knows the ring well, both negate all your extra BHP in the M5??)
I'd take the bet, IF I knew the circuit

Sorry, but not even the greatest driver in the world can compensate for SUCH inferior machinery, road/track knowledge being equal

Nothing much to do with my abilities

All about the machinery

I did see 'that German bint'

and whilst she did indeed pass many people who either

couldn't drive at all/lacked confidence/lacked circuit knowledge

she also failed to crack 10 minutes

which is a time plenty of people on here have beaten

just to keep things in perspective

I personally don't agree with the concept of owning a car for status or prestige. A car to me is either a mode of transport to get from A to B or it's a piece of performance engineering designed to be used to its full potential. This is a very black and white view, but it is mine.
what about houses?

Take a read of this from an M3 owner:

M3 v S2000
Have you read the third from bottom post about drifting his old S. FFS

Russ.

Oh and may I say what a lot of fantastic drivers we seem to have on here.

I had a bit of a play last month with an 03 M3 cab.

Duel carridgeway and thru a couple of roundabouts. I kept to the inside lane and just waited for him to sail past. I really gave it everything, but he couldn't gain any ground on me and was just sat there at a fixed distance behind me.

I don't believe for a mintute that he wasn't trying. Even gave me a wave as we went our separate ways

Then I found out that they weigh about 1700kg
