It may be time...
so do I, hence the marriage certificate
but in all seriousness she said that before she settled down to sensible motherhood her she wanted a 2 seat convertable. (she doesnt drive it,likes being passenger)
we test drove a few types and she said of the honda 'this is very sexy and gives me the horn'
what man could refuse...

From your sig you seem to also have a 330d.
Use the BM when you go out with the family and the S2000 to go to work.
I've got a friend you sold his 911 when their first baby arrived to buy an estate (C-class AMG) for the same reasons as yourself. 3 years later and with another baby now, he is driving an SL55 and his wife has the family car - that works out fine for them

We have the dreaded people wagon which my wife drives - a decent Merc beater for wet days and car parks, and the S is my toy.
My kids love going out in the S (one at a time of course
)Keep it.... and buy cheap additional cars and upgrade them regularly.
This also provides the additional benefit of increasing you 'carbon footprint'
Thanks for all the comments guys
It's looking more and more likely...
I don't really want to use the S for work as I don't like turning up to new clients in it - if I can keep the green eyed monster at bay then that can only be a good thing!
Tell me about it!
The idea is that I use the BMW for work - it's a good m'way lugger etc. etc. and that we get a Corsa or Clio for Rebecca to use - both will easily accomodate baby seats which just gives us more flexibility.
You've pretty much hit the nail on the head I think, and come November we're going to be doing an awful lot more stuff as a family - we certainly won't be able to nip out just the two of us top down etc.
To spin it a slightly different way there's too much value in the car for it just to be sitting in the garage, and there's going to be plenty of occasions when it'll be doing just that.

Alex! Consider yerself slapped around the head with wet fish!
I've just gone through this and personnally I am enjoying the S2000 more than ever.
We have the Baby Barge (CR-V) as a second - now main - car and am doing far fewer miles in the S2000.
I still use the S2000 for work and for all the little errands I get sent on (more nappies, more cotton wool, more baby wipes etc etc etc).
Because I am using it less I am loving it more.
I am also looking forward to the time where Oliver can come for a ride.

If money is no object, I suppose it's not a problem. For a lot of people though, money regrettably IS an object.
Thing is all the arguments for keeping hold water if you're still going to use it, but if you're not going to use it for work (which I'm assuming is the majority of driving on your own) then I'm not sure those arguments still hold fast.
How often do any of you who are co-habiting/married drive on your own when it's not a commute?

OK I am in a very similar boat. I use the S for work and we have an older A4 for the missus and future sprog. Now it would seem from a baby perspective that some sort of 'taller' car makes life easier, so I thought I'd just change the A4 for an A Class or something. But then we like going for drives especially in a convertable so I then thought maybe I'd get a 4 seat convertable instead along with A Class and loose the S. But I like the S so perhaps we could get a 4 seat convertable (new A4 perhaps) keep the S and sod the practicle car approach. Then I realized we're having a baby and will be poor forever...
