Mazda RX7
When I was at Nitron they were also working on an RX7 (which shares virtually identical rear shocks, by coincidence) which had a yank engine (LS1 perhaps) dropped into it. Apparently the gear stick popped straight through the gear lever hole, as if it were made for it! It was going to make a lethal track day car

Think you'll also find the diff is common, too!
The idea of a V8 in place of a Wankel is as reprehensible as the nasty V4 they used to put on Ro80s!

I had heard that the rotaries in RX7s are good for 50,000 miles these days so in another 30 years, who knows, they may have developed them to last as long as a four cycle engine (but the fuel consumption will still be poor no doubt as they don't seem able to improve that)
Funnily enough, they also put Mazda Wankels in them too!
Funnily enough, they were always better made then the German ones.
The surface area/volume ratio of the Wankel chamber leads to heat loss, so they won't be able to fix that. It works well on hydrogen though!
If you remember the engine is almost as simple as a two-stroke or a turbine, the regular rebuilds should be less of an issue.
But then I lost an S2000 unit at 36,000, so it's all luck really!
