Don't know an awful lot oabout these cars, but during a very recent visit to see Chris Franklin he was telling me that he'd worked on one of these recently.
He said the suspension was absolutely amazing and was a full race set up. Going on this I imagine the handling is bloody excellent.

The last of the line, and apparently hard to get through ESVA.
still best part of 20k i think for the 01/02 cars.
i seriously considered one of these before buying the S back in 2004. was put off by stories of the cabin being smaller than the S.
there was talk of mazda bring the RX7 back. hope they do that and somehow improve the fuel economy. but it's obviously doubtful.

There has been talk that Mazda would bring the RX-7 back, but like all these things the car manufacturers like to show us funky concepts, but they never build the damned thing. They just give us yet another f**king 4x4 or MPV we don't want.
A close friend of mine has a 1996 Efini RX7 FD3 and he's owned it for the last 5 years.
In that time, it's been reliable-ish (given the performance). However, he's had a number of things fail:
- Turbos
- Fuel line (perished, due to age, causing a fire!)
- Rotor-tip breakdown and subsequent engine failure...
He had the engine rebuilt at 69k miles and it cost about

Opie oils are recommended on the RX-8 forum. They like a drink.
Yes, you need to replace the rotor housings with the tips; otherwise, it's like new rings without honing/reboring the cylinders.
But if you're mad, you can build a three, or four-rotor version of the engine relatively easily!
