At least it wasn't a sheep dog that ran out in front of you, the consequences when that happen are truly unthinkable

Smashed windscreen and destroyed wiper blade. I had to reposition the arm last night as it was stuck in the middle of the windscreen with bits of crow still attached.

The largest of the two bits of fibreglass damage. The crack runs to the edge of the panel under the spotlight.

2nd crack is much less noticeable, and I suspect purely a cosmetic touch up.

I did, however hit a flock of sheep in my parent's 740 Volvo many, many years ago - I thank the final count was 2 instant, and 3 humanely put to sleep with a .303 at point blank range. Dragging a half-dead sheep off a road with its guts spilled out was not a pleasant experience.

I think the crofter had been herding them from behind a byre (which I couldn't see from the road) when they got spooked and ran across in front of me. Nothing I could do, especially as traffic coming the other way.

Stag was in my Saab 9-5 fortunately, and it merely bounced off - had I been in an S or Elise, I might well have been killed due to the lower road height.

Occupational hazard of driving in the country I am afraid.

Can the front clam be repaired if it's GRP, or does it mean a new one?

Looks like a simple repair, Euan. Had I hit it any faster (impact was at around 40mph) and the cat broke through the boidy I suspect it would need a whole new clam.

Years ago (before we were married) my wife hit a rottweiler at about 30 mph going through a village, dog rolled over looked at her for a few seconds then ran off.

It was a mk3 escort and needed front bumper, front grille, headlight, indicator, damage to the front panel and nsf wing.

It was late at night so she drove back to my house upset, I got out of bed and just put on my jeans, jacket and a pair of socks to take her home. I then got stopped by the police for speeding on the way to her house.

Had to explain the damage to the car and my dress sense, managed to get away with the speeding though.

bad luck gaz - time to sell up indeed - join me on the dark side and we can be turbo buddies

DC5 wouldn't be a bad choice though if that's the way you're thinking.

Shame

I'm assuming the cat was a write off ?
Or can it be touched up?
