To move on or not to move on?

Couldn't agree more on the seats mate. by far the comfiest i've plonked my pert arse on. It did surprise me how fresh i felt after 8-10hr stints in Europe last year. Jamie was giving me grief beforehand saying how i'd be crippled but nothing. The only thing i have is my right knee resting on the door cill which can end up sore but thats nothing.
Yes, the touring pack has some carpets & i think the leather door cards (not forgetting the luxorious scrotum pouch under the stereo), so i suspect tis quieter than performace pack equipped car. Anyway the ball & chain didn't complain about the racket last year so at least she made it all the way round France rather than being dumped at the side of the road for whinging.

Cayman if I was you. You won't hear the abuse as it's not a convertible

I haven't even seen a VXR8 on the road - from what you say, yes it does look great value for money but a little ostentatious for a fairly reserved guy like me!
Why is a Z4M Coupe the perfect choice?
Good solid car, yes the Lotus are great handling cars but look like plastic kit cars. I would have to be doing a larger proportion of track days if I were to suffer the indignity of driving a beardy type car on the road! Bit like Caterhams screaming school teacher, tweed jacket and leather patches on the arms. Not that image is important but......
Z4MC = Reliable, cheap, fast, handle well, you could tour with one and it has all the creature comforts.
If I couldnt afford a Cayman it would be top of my list.

Good question!
I suppose some of us cannot get near the looks, let alone past them.
A lot here who've got as far as the test drive seem to love the engine, but find the handling a bit lacklustre. I'm sure (like the old Z3 and the S2000) that can be fixed with braces & geometry, though.
If you're in a part of the world where abuse is a problem, the car isn't gonna be any better regarded than a Porsche - possibly worse, in fact.

The reference to abuse I mentioned earlier was only tongue in cheek - I wouldn't have a Boxster over an S for other reasons. The abuse directed at my mate was actually in Southport. Abuse isn't a problem where I live (touches wood).
Yes, the Z4M is a contender, but I know before driving one that it will be slightly dilute compared to the S. It may be tweakable but I'm trying to avoid tweaking altogether, hence considering the Exige and Evora.
Again, the Cayman is looking like it needs a showing, but unless it can fool me that it's not a Boxster in disguise, I'll be giving it a wide berth.
But, yes, this is exciting MB, and tiring!
Thanks for all the sensible input so far.
