It's things like this that are making it hard for me:

NA2 manuals seem pretty sought after, anybody think the NA1 is still worth a look?

The only thing I would say about the Evora, is you could have an Exige S and a Cayman S for the money. Someone suggested that to me the other day and it hit me.

But it is a car which is firmly lodged in my head as "I don't care what it costs"

That's a lot of money for an older car. Almost 355 territory.

But i've no doubt it's a great bit of kit, and cheaper to run and own than a Fezza!

I'd consider an NA1, but you very rarely see a manual non targa for sale, and when they are, it's 20k touch.

Yes, of course it is - but I bet it didn't sell for that price. The fact that it shows as sold with that price tag merely upholds its status IMO.

Point taken about about the Cayman S/Exige S combo (or even a fleet of S2Ks). Anything with a Porsche badge might surprise you with a big bill when you least expect it though.

I'm just not a fan of the pop-up headlights of the NA1.

I've never seen an NA2 hang around for long, tends to be days on Pistonheads. Tells me they are fetching their prices?

Anything really good (ie a LBBP NA2 ex-NSXCB owner) will tend to shift very fast indeed.

There's a real debate as to whether they're really better then the lighter, early NA1s which can be bough for peanuts, relatively. Some prefer one, other t'other.

If you're not a trackday demon, there is a case for an NA1 Targa as the ultimate GT car.

If they're there a long time, it's due to a crappy ad or a crappy car.

In that case, one can only assume it's worth the seemingly steep asking price

There is apparently a (relatively) huge demand in HK for post-03 models. That's where a lot of UK ones are going.

Lotus 111R.

If I could afford a decent example I'd be back in one like a shot.

Maybe not 'hard' enough in oem guise, but I'm enjoying this little E92 335i.

Really does do it all extremely well, and its dead cheap to run for a 300bhp plus 1.6 tonne car.
A simple set of downpipes and a remap sees 380bhp, and all the legendary build quality that you dont get in a Tupperware chariot
