Should just add that being one of the last ones, mine's only had the fluctuating fast-idle issue. Hardly fatal, but embarrassing and a new valve fixed it.

Oh, and four Halford's body washers on the tops of the rear dampers, to stop it 'knocking' on road tits.

Broken record I know, but you should get a Primera GT. Dirt cheap, 4-seat hatchback so loads of room, 150bhp high revving engine, cam chain like a certain other car, double wishbone suspension, also like a certain other car, and takes any abuse and never goes wrong ever (believe me I've tried). There's a reason Primeras were a favourite of taxi drivers.

Also handles better than an Exige*.

This is much better condition than mine:

By comparison Civics and the like are way overpriced.

*Okay so that's a lie, but it is very good for what it is.

Ta, Ikobo

Tom / Dave,

2 good shouts there! I forgot about such things. A beater should be cheap to run in my view, and a CRX would be. 1.6 remember

Primera should be a good car I guess.

306 D is a car I have always liked actually. Handle very well from the couple i've been in.

Off to hunt the web...

306 d is ok if you can find one without shot electrics.

usually what fails is:

alarm,
immobilizer
central locking and the electric windows.

also the heat exchanger goes frquently as well and that is a 10 hour book job as its buried behind the dash.
