A Legacy, nice bit of grunt and very spacious
or if your after fuel efficent maybe a 1.5 civic ek3 (40ish MPG if driven in economy mode)

both can be had for less than 2000

i doubt you'd want to be seen dead in anything this old

this is my jalopy and with all the ghetto mods/upgrades and the tyres now on it , it will out corner my old S2000

i have done a lot of welding and repaires but even so including buying it, head gasket, clutch, lightened flywheel , painting, insuring it twice and a years tax twice it owes me about

I surprised your not looking at import subaru wrx turbo wagons you know your stuff on them and im sure some of them can be picked up in that price range...
they aren't exactly cheap to run as a second car though!

What about a nice tasteful two-tone farmermobile 2.5 Subaru Outback?

KK / Guzzie / GE2 - Subaru's are a bit thirsty

Boz, that is rather old school

I think I like the Honda option, just not sure what variant. CRX / Civic / Prelude.

The doris is telling me to hang on until she finds out where her next job will be.

Guess she is right, so might hang on a months

Could nitorus the Audi in the meantime though

new car every 3 months now Mark you're as bad as me

I'd consider the CRX prelude too, nice and cheap, a good one will run for a while and kind of practical

I use a 5th Gen Prelude as my beater Mark and its been faultless. Its comfy, reasonably fast, loads of room and cheap to service Definitely have to be a 2.2 Vtec one though.
