New Corsa has same performance figures as S2K
This is getting bloody daft - the new hot Corsa will do 60 in 6.0secs and go on to 150mph. We can all say we don't mind if a Focus ST or Astra VXR is up our chuff till we're blue in the face, but an unfettled Corsa!?

I think the S is getting to the stage where the MX-5 1.8iS was in the late 90's. The idea that it had sports car performance started to disappear, as the hot hatch birgade's minimum requirements began to rise. When are Honda going to do something and give the car a much needed power-hike or kill it off?
Last one out shut the door!

But that's what a hot hatch has to be able to do now to compete with a Clio 197 etc. We're only talking 200bhp from a 1.6 turbo, which isn't asking tht much these days. And Vauxhall do turbo's very well, that's something positive I can say about them.
But I'd be surprised if they didn't just stick in the generic 2.0 turbo from the VX220/Chavalier/Calibra to save money.

Its a changing world! I remember when the scooby was first out and about and its 0-100mph time of 14.5 seconds seemed impossibly fast for a 'normal' car. The hatches are closing in on that territory and are largely only missing out because of poor FWD traction spoiling the 0-60mph part. To be ahead of the game you really need to be low 5s to 60mph and 12 dead or lower to 100mph. IMHO to have a really fast car you have to be under 100mph in 10 seconds leaving the 8s barrier for the supercars and sub 6 for stupid cars

You are obsessed with outright performance statistics, BB. That isn't, and never has been, the be-all and end-all of the S2000. Only on that most superficial level could you conceivably compare the Corsa VXR (which is what I assume we're talking about, since I haven't followed the link) with the S2000. They will offer a very different experience in getting to 150 mph.....
I don't think anyone would disagree that the S2000 is being left behind a bit but the current fad for uber-hatches. Still doesn't mean I'd want to swap it for a Focus ST or a Clio 197 or an Astra VXR, all other things being equal.

I'm terrified
The M5 simply won't cut it
On the other hand - I've been able to p*ss all over the VXRs and STs that have fancied their chances
So either these performance figures are optimistic
Or I have a very quick M5
As for an Elise - that's likely to be blown away even quicker than an S2000 by these trolleys - especially at higher speeds
Makes you wonder why anyone would buy one

200bhp through those front wheels on a rain soaked Monday morning, sounds like a recipe for death.
A car that's made from parts, made by the lowest bidder, from plastics that Fisher Price probably rejected.
Worried!!! I think not.
I know which of the two will handle better, I know which of the two will hold it's value. I know which of the two will be better made, and more reliable.
