FWD.

Why isn't Honda working on a GT86 rival with a better engine?

It's fudging quick, well, in development guise anyway.

I must be getting rather old but these modern "hot hatches" leave me cold. They are all massive in size and all look equally ridiculous, with their pumped up arches and rear wings.

Hot hatches were much more subtle and didn't need lime green paint work to stand out. Those who knew cars, knew what to look for, and they were much more tasteful (with the odd exception). I think most hot hatches have just become yet another motoring status symbol, like AMG & M cars. "Looks at me, I can afford a fast car, get out of my way peasant."

i just read some comments and seems Honda did a cut and shut job on that vid to edit out the off track excursions...

it's all a little embarrassing isn't it, this willy waving on the Nurby ring.

who cares really, personally I think it's awful and don't care how fast it is, are people really going to buy it?

I can't see it taking much market share from the Golf R, S3 or focus when it launches.

shame really and agree as others have said, whene did hot hatches get so stupid, I prefer the understated 'sleeper' look myself without all the tat.

So when can you test drive the thing? I've nearly crashed twice on the M4 eye-balling the contents of transporters heading away from Swindon. Part of me wants one, but fears disappointment for no other reason than FWD.

Passed a shed load of 'em today.

Okay, they were on a transporter heading for Salisbury, probably local August Motors.

To put it bluntly, its been made simply to charge around a track but might overheat. It might not though. Interior is massively the disappointment and it hardly exhibits any real quality.
Casting aside a 167mph top speed, than frankly no one cares about, a 5.7 sec to 60 sprint confirms to me this thing may have a bit of a dollop of lag. Let's hope Honda has smoothed it out and my suspicions are incorrect.
I'd say save yourself 20grand and go and have a play in an EP3. Honda think there's enough market for this? Well, if it was enough of a lesson to understand the FN2 was cobblers, this thing will probably go Hybrid (which I think it could aspire to in the near future) before it's dropped.
The Japs need to sack their interior designers and stop selling tacky shiny rattly interiors. We hate them!
