I think the cs alloys are are slightly diff width than the csls.
The z4mc reminds me of an s2k on steroids with all the bits where they should be except the softop.

but Z4M Coupe is wilder, faster and more fun to drive, a proper old school thug.
The Z4M is an amazing car IMO, so much wild fun to be had.
The only negative aspects to the Z4M that I found were:
- Horrendous depreciation (seems to be getting worse)
- Interior plastics are so so, not usual BMW standards
- Sensitive throttle causes embarrassing kangaroos!
I still think it's one of the best BMW's on sale today!
Great write up

I had a quick read of your post whilst on holiday last week and it did make me smile. I was finding the exact same things that you were with the car.
The notchy gearchange when using second is a PITA. Any gearchange involving 2nd can be a bit of a pig and the ratios between 2nd & 3rd are too wide apart. Rev matching down from 3rd to 2nd you have to give it a right boot full, it just doen't seem right. I am also struggling with the H&T. I can do it, but find it impossible to blip the throttle (something I could do for fun in hte S), and my foot is nearly held horizontal .
I too had heard tales of the brakes being weak, but on the road they are superb.
I don't have the driver skills required to hang the back end out, but I am still really enjoying it. I do think the coupe looks better than mine, but we still love having the soft top so the roadster was right for us. On the Euro trip I've just done I never saw another one; pretty exclusive eh
Glad you got there in the end, car looks

Probably not related, but my 135i has an awkward 1st to 2nd change at low revs too. Prefers to change up at 4k rpm and above, which is then very smooth (1st to 2nd only).
I also fitted a new CDV which cures a slightly delayed higher speed gearchange, but hasn't really helped with the 1st to 2nd low rev issue.
The gearbox in the 135 is very direct and quite short, but I do hanker after the BMW Performance short shift kit which I have read great reviews.

You're right about the 2nd and 3rd gear being too far apart, hadn't thought of it
You've got to get about 4k on the Rev counter if you won't to slip from 3rd to 2nd at 30mph and not go through the windscreen
