Carp is only pointing out the obvious flaw with an M6. Your warranty would be >5% of the cost, add fuel (my 4l M3 does 17mpg in town so that will do 15 or less? There is a reason they depreciate hard

And that is before anything goes wrong

I would aim square at driver involvement bur i dunno what you want. You could get an Elise

I take on board what you are saying, but fuel consumption won't be a problem as it won't be my only car.

Driver involvement would be nice but I don't think there's anything better than an S2000 for that at this price range, cayman maybe but they are a bit generic for my liking.

You know well what I think of the Elise/Exige

Budget = 15 to 20k for a replacement car.

I am assuming you intend to go down the finance route.

Consider this, get anothers2k for 8k on finance, and put the money you save from not owning a more expensive car towards household goodies.

Though this next sentence is painful for me to say, it does have truth behind it.

There are more important things than carsome on this world, get your house sorted, put a ring on you boyfriend finger (no not that ring) and once you have the home sorted it's then time to have fun with car again.

You assume incorrectly, not finance.

Fiance has a lovely ring (yes that one too) and the wedding in 2017 is paid for.

As said previously, more car suggestions please! My S2000 was a peach, there is no way I'd go through the costly and time consuming process of getting another one to the standard mine was and I wouldn't be happy in one that wasn't as good.

I agree, S2 is a sweet spot but I would say that having had mine for 12 years

try a GT86 or a hot Renno (yeah, its me saying that) under warranty of course

on days when I get the window down and the boot in the v8 (with a bit of a ...changed.. exhaust) it does sound quite special. you only get that with the potential for big bills probably but mine has behaved since 2012, even this minor noise from the brakes could easily cost £600 DIY though

failing that what about an XK8?

Buying expensive motors at the lower price range is a bind. Like nott says, if the difference between 20k and 17k is important to you, fuel,,warranty and consumables will bust your balls. Fingers crossed for a clutch
I didn't say that it will be a stretch going to £20k, I just would rather spend something nearer £17k but for the right car would go up to that. £17k is pretty much midfield for an M6 the age I am looking at.

Can I get some more car suggestions rather than this turning into a debate about running costs and consumables?
I'd put 20 quid away for a vaginal sand extractor.

What do you mean by a hot renno? A Renault I assume?

XK8 you posted a picture of is quite nice, it's also nearly £60k.
