Default NIP! 62 in a 30 limit

No, seeing as the alleged offence took place in Lytham, Lancs and I was in Sussex at the time. Haven't been up in that part of the world for at least 8 years. And also seeing as the Reg no. they clocked hasn't been on my S2k since it was replaced by a private plate almost 2 years ago.

Now all I have to do is convince the rozzers of all these facts. Its still hassle though, innit?

Idiots! Hope you can resolve this matter mate. I remember there was an article in the papers a few weeks back where they "allegedly" clocked a blind man speeding through a speed trap in his scenic. Even if that were possible he said he was abroad on holiday when it happened.....

i don't think your old plate gets recycled.. assuming it was not another private one?

Have you looked to see if the plate has been re-registered ??
Or is it on retention by you ??

Just made a couple of phone calls...

DVLA says plates do not get recycled when replaced by a personal one, so there is no way the old plate should be on the road.

Lancs. Constabulary had a look at the evidence photo while I was on t'phone and its not a black car and its not a s2k. As if an s2k owner would do something that irresponsible anyway...

At their suggestion I'll be sending the NIP back with an explanation and I shouldn't hear any more about it. :fingerscrossedsmiley:

Interesting, so it's a cloned plate? Or have they misread the photo?

Now this annoys me. Shouldn't they have fvcking asked this BEFORE they sent you the NIP in the first place?! Isn't that the police's job, to check the facts prior to making an accusation?

No, of course it isn't, not in this easy, quick automatic fine world of ours. Drives me mad!

So HTF does one prosecute plod for wasting the public's time?

I might try invoicing everyone in the phone book & see how many cheques I get in...

The lady I spoke to was a bit vague about how legible the plate was. She did try an "alternative reading" but that didn't come back as a black s2k either.

I think its all part of the current authorities' policy of getting the public to do all their work for them. Like I said to the VAT man the other day on the subject of on-line filing, "not only do you get the general public to collect your taxes for you, now you even get us to process the paperwork!". I hope he had a sense of humour...
