Noisey engine !
For the first time since I have bought the Mondeo I think it might be going to let me down.
When I turn the key to turn the engine off I get a loud rattling that last only a second till the engine stops but it doesnt sound healthy at all.
Any ideas what it could be??
Oil level is fine, everything looks ok inside the engine..... I am going to take it down to my local garage tomorrow to let them have a look, just trying to get a bit of a heads up on what it might be.
Its a TDCI 2.0 '02 model with 90k on the clock.
Everything has just come at once on it, it needs new tyres on all corners, new brake disks + Pads, and also going PowerFlex on the bushes as these are a known weakpoint on the mondeos rear subframe so thought I might as well go PowerFlex (fairly cheap to do on a mondeo).
Cheers for you help with this rattle !

Can you post a picture of the noise
Looking at the first post I was beginning to have worst case big end thoughts
Always the problem with trying to sort noise problems. I can heartily recommend going down to Machine Mart and getting a set of mechanics stethascopes. Any time you think you notice something odd get an ok vehicle and the one that's making the noise nd spend a while listening for odd noises

Yeah I was starting to think the worst as well, really didnt sound good. I dont trust myself to diagnose things like this though, straight to the experts ASAP is usually the way to reduce cost in the long run.
Thankfully this was a nice free fix, remove heatshield ! :-)
