Default Non Transferable Registration Mark

Hello,

There's a note on my V5C that states "Non Transferable Registration Mark".

Having followed up with the DVLA, they have confirmed that this means the registration mark:

- cannot be transferred to another vehicle;
- cannot be placed on retention;

So - here's my question.

I've bought a cherished plate. I'll transfer it on to my car, but when I come to sell it, I'll need to source an alternative 'normal' plate to transfer back on (so I can retain my cherished plate).

Will the DVLA issue me with a 'stanard' plate that's representative of the year (for an admin fee), or will I need to buy the cheapest cherished plate I can find to transfer on to it before I sell ?

All thoughts very welcome !

Thanks,

Rob.

PS - Having sold the S back in January, hope I'm still welcome here

They'll issue you another registration mark when you transfer your cherished plate off the vehicle, it is normally, but not always, the one that was on it originally if it had one (mine was first registered with a cherished plate) or the original plate hasn't been re-allocated.

[QUOTE]There is a form (V317, I think DVLA Reg Transfer Info) that you need to fill in to transfer the cherished number from the car it is on now to either the next one (
