Default Number Plates

Hi,

I want to put a set of old style plates on my 2CV (1984-A-Reg) so the age is no longer obvious. Ideally I would go for something like 123 ABC and use a black and white plate but legally you are supposed to use reflective plates on a post '73 vehicle. Will I get away with it? What happens with the vehicle recognition software at ports etc? It would look a bit daft with old style plates on a reflective background.

I imagine you'll get away with it as far as the police are concerned.

It 'should' fail at MOT time though.

Keep a set of yellow & white plates in car.
Offer to fit pronto should a Pee-Brained-Plod has nothing better to do than stop you.

Fancy doing this myself as private plate on black car with black and silver number plate would look cool.

But then I also like the idea of fitting Borrani wire wheels............

I see a black SLK 55 AMG almost every day in london with the Black and silver plates. Looks very good. Assume he never has probs since its been well over a year since he first appeared with them

That will be an expensive plate but good luck with buying it!!

I'm not convinced, they sort of look cool but I've seen the odd Merc or Range Rover with black reg plates and just thought cock..

123 A is on a 911 in London. See him quite a lot too. Reckon the plate is worth the same as his car

123 ABC is on a 3 series cab

A1 is on a Cooper S

funny how vry expensive plates are on cheap cars.

On the flip side, aforementioned plod would see this as pre-meditated. i.e. you can't say, "oh sorry officer, I didn't know about this law, or it came like that sir".
