Owning a MINI

I guess it's all down to perceptions
People expected an M5 to be travelling fast/faster and maybe there's a perceived pecking order?
Once you have the momentum, it's possible to drive the MINI at close to the same speeds but it seems people don't like it
It's probably good for my driving as I have to plan a lot more

I've had two Cooper Diesels as 'Courtesy Vehicles' over the last month whilst the bodyshop (not the smelly kind) and Porsche have been trying to work out why the Cayman's aircon wouldn't work after my starring role in The Deershunter"
The Cooper D does a gazillion miles to the gallon and the road tax is only £35
It *may* get up to 110mph with little trouble once you sort out the power band and I am now thinking it would make an excellent second car for station/daily commute to Docklands/shopping trolley
And Pete .... you're spot on ..... people's faces when you charge past them!!
Oh yeah .... only downside was when I went to overtake some w@nker doing 30 in a 50 the other night and forgot I wasn't in the Porsche

The Cooper diesel is a cracking little hatch
60mpg without trying and it's quicker than the ONE I have at the moment - which isn't exactly sluggish (has the new 1.6 engine)
I will probably buy a new Cooper diesel in November/December
Meanwhile, people STILL don't like being overtaken by the MINI
As for undertaking, apopleptic doesn't come close
Ironically, BMW drivers seem the most upset...
And what I find REALLY funny, is the arseholes that come off worst in a game THEY initiated
They seem to get maddest of all
What's that all about?
My girlfriend was looking at buying a MINI, she typed 'BMW Mini' in google and this was the first link!

.Funnily enough there's a guy at work (owns a Cooper S), he thinks he's a big macho hardman/nutter.
I seen him getting out of his car one day and I said "Scott i thought you were a hard barsteward, why your driving that thing for?!' - he just chuckled, I made sure i wasn't in the S that day for a retort
.
the One is going
I am doing too many miles in a small petrol-engined car
I think it will destroy the residuals
so the Cooper diesel negotiations begin
never thought I'd buy a new diesel.....

had a cooper convertable from Hertz last week, the most gay car on earth, i could not put the roof down it felt wrong, although i did like the option of retracting the front half like a sun roof thats a nice touch, it even has a meter to count the hours driving with roof down (what a waste of time)
i have hired a couple of cooper's and i like cars where the chassis out performs the engine you can get a lot out of them without it getting too leary
not sure if the works might but the balance out but never driven one so cant comment on any chassis tweaks they might have done
only down side is lack of boot space but you have the back seats as well

my sister has a Cooper convertible
there is no way I'd drive it!
the Works I had was different
for one thing it wasn't a convertible
for another, it would outperform just about anything that tried racing it
the One is pretty anonymous and I expect the CD will be the same
