[QUOTE=S2000_FUN,Mar 4 2009, 09:59 AM] Ok an update. Below are some photos of the engine that supposed to have 7100 miles.

The guy replied in my e-mail. Below is his reply. He did not mention who's mistake it is (why the mileage was 7100 on the odometer) so i asked him again but at least he seems he wants to help i believe

The only sure way to tell is to match up engine and VIN numbers, or do a full internal inspection. The engine you have looks older than 7000 miles, but that could be the fact it's been sitting exposed to the British winter for 4 months.

Chris, since you have the mileage by VIN / Honda, that proves everything. And if he has another engine coming from another S2000 tell him to send it over to you for free this time. He claimed 7000+ miles and this does not stand.

The pictures was just to see the condition of the engine. He said was in as new condition when i phone him. Outer condition was also the reason i went in trouble to ask from honda to match the VIN number with the engine number and find out the mileage.I agree the outer condition cannot do so much the mileage justice but this was proved from Honda database

So you may have to use the evidence you obtained from Honda to support your case with the breaker...

Chris,

Stood for a few months outside in winter what-the-f***-ever; there is NO F***ING WAY that that engine has only done 7K miles!!!!!!. Looks more like 70K. I have a 9 year-old 60K RAV4 outside and the engine in THAT looks tidier/cleaner. (And I've had the car since 12K miles and the engine has NEVER been cleaned/detailed.)

Chris; those to$$ers that sold you that engine as a 7K-miler are taking the p!ss: keep at 'em.

I really hope that this sorry saga turns out well for you in the end mate.

Hmmm looking at the picture in the car it does look like you have received that engine, if you look at the markings on the rocker cover they are the same! i belive its done a lot more miles thouhg so the inside pic must be a fake! im sorry for you by the way, i was looking over the pictures to see if they are fake!

Well spotted that man. Chris has indeed received the same engine as shown in the EBay pics...........

As such, Chris can't really argue that he hasn't received the engine shown in the EBay pics.... But I do think he CAN quite reasonably argue that there's NO way that the car being broken as advertised has only done 7K miles.... I'll bet that car is an 04 that's done at least 50K miles. It's well known that S2000s are easy to clock. IF that car HAS only done 7K miles, then the engine in it MUST be a replacement engine out of a much earlier car..... Damned hard to know what the story REALLY is here. One thing's for certain so far as I'm concerned: that engine ain't 7K-mile fresh..... A nasty old pickle indeed.

I went to dewsbury salvage the other month with Kiwi.

TBH, they did seem ok - ok as far as breakers go.

Apparently, one of the owners has a Gallardo and the other a 360 Spider. They showed us the pics too.

Personally, I didn't do too bad for what I got - 04 centre console, 04 radio door, and some roof seals for
