What P****s me off is when you are stuck in a que in the outside lane and the prick in the mondeo behind is riding your arse. Its obvious you cant go any faster because of the cars in front but they still think they can push you along.
There's a simple way to deal with these.

As they approach, ease off the throttle, don't brake, just slow slightly.
They get closer than they expected, they drop off.
As they do, accelerate back up to the speed of the traffic in front.

Inevitably they'll come back for more tailgating fun, repeat the above.

Generally it takes 3 goes before they get the message, but they usually do in the end.

That method definitely works! Tried and tested on numerous occasions.

The A2 is crap road to drive on, no matter what car it is.

At the end of the day everyman thinks he's entitled to own the right lane. If you was doing 90 mph on the right lane, and a Corsa behind you wants to do 110 MPH, would you move over or do you sit there thinking you have the lane because your car is "better" and you're not moving over for some poxy Vauxhall?
Let an old Previa past today!

Aerodynamic shape, I suspect.

Totally agree. I don't think that because i drive an S2000 that my car is a tad faster than other cars i have a right of way in the fast lane. I mean i bought the S2000 for its drive. Never intended for it to be used to be thrashed up and down A roads in a straight line under and overtaking... what bugs me is when you are so obviously going quicker than them and there is room for them to shove off why make me do the dangerous driving and undertake them and at the last minute when you are about to pass them they signal and move without warning. It would have been better for them to have moved in the first place.

And if a corsa was doing 110mph behind me i'd move off because the time it takes to get to 110 even in the S, the corsa would have passed you no matter what gear your in...

I was doing 80-90 ish in 4th in vtec and the bugger didn't move off till i undertook him( three lanes on the A2 had to move into the 1st). Having undertook him he decided to then speed up but i passed him at about 100...

If anything was approaching anyone from behind with some speed wouldn't they move off? But no it doesn't seem to apply to them!!!
I think your post says everything, especially when you got to "I undertook him"!

AHHH so annoyed got tail gated by an E class today on a straight!!!! And he was proper going for it. I entered the fast lane in 3rd and hit 80mph joining the lane with him at least a good 2 car spaces behind me and revved off happily till i noticed him right behind me and flashing me... WTF i dropped to 5th thinking i'd pull a little bit away but nope still on me...should have dropped to 3rd or even 4th. Eventually he undertook me dangerously approaching a speed camera we both wanted the same turn off and the lil git sped through the camera just to cut one car space ahead of me... I hate mercedes drivers especially the ones in the non sporty versions!!!!
Sorry for yapping on so much...wanted to express my views

Why didn't you get out of the way for a faster car?

What he said.

You didn't 'hit the right gear' so were going slower. Surely that's what you accused the BM driver of in your OP?

...he wasn't that much faster...

i suppose i should of moved off. The BM wouldn't increase in speed or move off, at least i tried to "move" a bit faster.
The only drawback to the S is a lack of torque especially in 5th and 6th i should have dropped to 3rd and gave him a harder time of undertaking me ...

Times like this i wish i had bought an impreza...or a german car with an uber sized litred engine throwing out torques in any gear just to carry its weight.
