If I had that money, I'd have a 911 996 GT3 (MK II probably) and a beater.

if it had to be new (I personally wouldn't buy new again) I'd probably be looking at a new M3 (one that's coming out), Audi RS4, Boxster S, Cayman S, don't think it'd stretch to an M5 though.

I took out a C2S yesterday. Extremely impressive. Beautifully sharp and responsive handling combined with excellent ride quality and serious grunt. You will have fun on Monday
Booked half day to have a proper go in it

Only problem is I may not want my 996 carrera back after driving a 997

I've not driven a 996 but they say that the 997 is much more refined. Be interested to see what you think after Monday.

I've had a 997 C2S whilst mine was in for some work. It was a very nice car. The interior has been revised a lot so it's more pleasant. The engine is a 3.8 in the S version and a bit more pokey than the 3.6 in mine. It was a really good car and the drive was great and a little more involving than my C4s. However the cost to change was massive. Maybe when they drop a little more.

Got some pics somewhere.....

For 50k I'd be looking at something more interesting than Porker, such as this

Leaves you a couple of grand for a beater too!

Depends on the criteria but neither the M400 or the 355 are usuable 'everyday' cars whereas the 911 can be.
