this is what i think has happened.

Should i try the hpi on the private plates ?.

I think the seller has nothing to hide as they have been very open with information they siad on the day i went to see that i could take it to any garage for an inspection they also had no problem with a vehicle inspection.

I just want 100% peace of mind.

Please be VERY VERY careful with private plates.

Especially on big value cars.

A friend and ex forum member came close to getting burnt last year like this.

The Porsche he was buying into (he knew the owner too) was re-financed again against the second number plate.
He still tried to pull a fast one on him by proving one lot of finance was clear.
The other was not. So i guess he had the finance company over as well.

So yes, it can and has been done so be very careful.

Thanks for the warning, on the data check against the private plate it list the all the data details as no interest or no finance eat against the original 06 number plate. It says "there is no interest it vrm A*06*** " if that make sense , so it says the plate i'm buying it on confirmed by the dvla is clear . Am i reading that right ?

plates are transient, the VIN is not.

be certain before you part with your cash, speak to someone at HPI (who do the rac checks)
