I know what I would say to you.

Remember that game Spy Hunter from the 1980's? - you see, you need to dispense an oil slick or smoke screen to trounce such dickishness. Sometimes, I wish we have "weapons" to deal with this diesel dickwad. He should have been admiring the Exige's power and presence, rather than attempt to "race" it.

In future, let the person past, then quickly overtake when safe to do so. They'll soon get the message

I would recommend a less aggressive attitude following personal experience when in my Elise many moons ago. I had similar (ironically to what Ultra experienced), I gave a quick flash, nothing doing, so undertook.

Driver of lane hogger looked over as I undertook (I glanced at him also to let him know he was in the wrong lane), he took exception to this and chased me VERY aggressively for 3 or 4 roundabouts along the local ring road (short stretches of DC, so no real chance to really get clear of him), anyway, ended in my stopped at lights on final RAB, he arrives, mounts kerb on outside, park across my bow, gets out and starts running towards me. I didn't really know what to do, so checked coast was clear and just (I mean just) avoided hitting his car and drove off, he jumped out of the way and took a swipe at my car.

I, how else can I put this, nearly shat myself. The guy was a moron / skinhead meathead and clearly didn't like a young man (23 at the time) undertaking him in a fancy little car.

Trouble is, you never know who is driving the other car and what they might do, so I no longer put myself in a position where it could be ugly. I enjoy a little blast as much as the next man, but the roads are full of all sorts, mostly ok, some good, some rotten.

That's my view too Phil - if someones driving is rotten enough to be noticeable, there's little chance that remonstrating with them about it is going to bring a positive outcome and unless you are either bulletproof / Chuck Norris / Martial arts god .... it's a pointless exercise. If it's just some dimwit featherhead - you may well get reported ( possibly videoed these days) for threatening behaviour which is equally unwanted.

Go around them and ignore them or if it doesn't really affect you on the grand scheme of things, just slow down and let them run into someone else. When you run through the possible / probable outcomes, being a few minutes delayed to your destination is not usually a matter of life and death.

If someone comes up behind you quickly and you're not being held up by traffic, let them on their way. If you're not overtaking, then keep left. It's not rocket science is it?

If they're in the outside lane and won't pull over, give them a quick flash (from a safe distance). If they don't react, gently undertake and be on your way in a calm fashion. Or just pull in a lane and hover in their rear 3/4.

Go about your day with a serenity and poise, realise that most people are idiots and be glad you're not one of them.

Then when the empty road opens up in front of you, enjoy.

I've always found that using my right indicator works better than flashing a lane-hogger. I think it's seen as a less aggressive signal and so is less antagonising.

How about if you are doing 85 in the outside lane, overtaking a row of three lorries and a tat head is behind you flashing for you to pull over, into the lorry by your left?

That's the work of a c*nt.

Wait until you've completed your manoeuvre then just pull over and let them on their merry way. They'll find themselves in an accident at some point, just ensure it's not you.

Yes, they're a c*** but you don't have to lower yourself to their level.

Shisk, I sort of agree with the indicator, but it's rare that it works.

Well I got into the slow Lane and saved them the worry of my slow car and a need to overtake it. I was glad I was in something that could dish out a portion in opposition to one of my others that couldn't
