Default RIP Marco Simoncelli

Simoncelli, a rising star in MotoGP died in Sepang today after having a pretty horrific crash where he was basically run over by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi on lap 2.

Such a shame and a really bad week for motorsport.

At least it would have ended quickly for him. It looks like Edwards actually rode over his head and pulled his helmet off. Very unpleasant.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rossi retires after this, him and Simoncelli were very close and had known each other for years.

It has got to be so hard to know that you had a role in an accident that killed your close friend.

Not good, it may well have an effect on all involved. RIP Marco.

Very sad to see this and I still can't believe it really. I know Simoncelli was a wild rider at times and took risks, but I still never think anything bad will happen to him. I feel so sorry for both Edwards and Rossi, they could do nothing to get out of the way.

RIP Marco

A very sad day for all involved, and all fans of the sport. Earlier in the season when other riders were taking a pop at him for his riding style, I realy admired the fact that he stuck to his guns, but got his head down and got on with his business quietly. Also spare a thought for the Fausto Gresini; his team was the last to suffer a fatality when Daiiro Kato lost his life at Suzuka in '03.
