I only picked up my S2000 little over a week ago but I've already noticed several instances of people driving like absolute t**ts simply because there's a sports car behind them.

I've only ever driven run-of-the-mill cars beforehand (part ex'ed a Puma for the S2K) and personally never thought anything of it when somebody in a more expensive/better car was either in front or behind me. However, in the last week I've noticed people driving completely differently. As I'm new to all this and it's been raining practically every day since I bought it, I haven't had my foot down too much, certainly not in built up areas. I have seen cars put their foot down as if they think I'm going to try racing past them. I take the same road to work every morning, uphill stretch for about 1/2 mile in a 40 zone - I'm behind a Golf at the lights and as soon as they change he's off in a cloud of smoke. I'd only been sat at the lights with the engine idle so it's not like I was looking to race. Quite enjoyed slowly pulling up behind him as he stood waiting at the next set of lights - my car was still a damn sight better than his and it obviously bothered him

Mark, I take your point. I know what I did wasn't model driving behaviour and I wasn't expecting everyone on here to agree with it. However, it was monday morning, I was late and having some muppet deliberately trying to block me was enough to make me react - it doesn't help that I see this sort of thing every day so the frustration accumulates. I hold my hands up there, on another day I might not have done it. Like Gad says it's easier to be objective in retrospect.

This doesn't make the Zafira driver any less of a twat though, IMHO. Deliberately blocking other cars from overtaking them is the sign of someone feeling desperately inferior and in need of a power trip....

No, you're entirely correct, it doesn't. And as several have said, that's the problem with many Zafira drivers (I blame the 'Daddy Cool' ads a couple of years ago, they buy one only to discover they're still driving a POS top heavy Vauxhall that smells of baby sick).
At least you can spend the summer with the roof down, enjoying your sports car, he is condemned to drive his 'Daddy Fool' wagons for the next 15 years......

Amazing how that thought chills one out when confronted by these knuckle draggers.....

oh no, they often do have a keen interest

but putting Kylie up the duff three times has changed all that forever

and ambition and desire have festered into envy and resentment

you drive those cars because you have to

if you really cared about performance and could afford it, as well as needing space, you'd surely drive something like a Cayenne turbo or an RS6 Avant or an AMG Merc estate or......

these people have little hope of escaping their driving drudgery and it rankles

But my point it surely if they had an interest incars, inspead of spending 7-15k on whatever shite they could buy a nice 2nd hand car that has ample room?

Or an utter shite beater for the kids and a nice 2nd hand car. (can you tell I don't have kids )

Potential next door neighbour said to me "lovely cars those Hondas-had to give the sports cars up now we have a kid"

He drives a Honda HPV or whatever they are called

And he can clearly afford that and something else

God how true that it !!

We have a Citroen C8 and here is the logic...my wife feels confident in it because of the vision, she has no problems with the size of it and parks it better than anyone I've seen. We have 7 seats in it which are required because of shuffling kids around (we only have 2 but they have friends)..and her elderly parents, and booze runs to France. It performs exactly the role we bought it for.

I drive it at the weekends...and it is similar to a van, so you amble in it...you let the world pass you by and enjoy your family, the music and the darkened air conditioned environment. It rarely goes over 70 (unless its n France where it cruises at 90 all day).

We have a beater for car parks...and the S for pleasure....

Each car gets driven in the manner it was designed.

It works for us...but I see as much nonsense on the road as everyone else..and no..its not in my mirrors

good point.

And the twat parked on my drive the other day-cheeky fecker
There are two things I will not bow to.

1) shit people carrier

2) public schools

Most other things are a goer.

Come back to this thread in 10 years to see what has happened

And there's the source of the resentment.

He drives a people carrier because she wants one and he doesn't have the balls, the cash or a good enough relationship to do anything but comply.

Most of us would/will find a way to compromise (ref. Shipley) and feel no ill towards the world.

Others don't, and seethe with resentment, which is taken out on the rest of us.
