I don't count myself as rich

but I suppose it depends who you are comparing yourself to
Me. I've just finished my second degree. My academic debt could probably buy me a brand new S2K. Although i'd have nowhere to put it since it costs

But why not use perjury as a multiplier. If you lie under oath, then you deserve to get double your intended sentance/fine etc.
Because it ISN'T just a multiplier. It's an offence in its own right. And one that judges tend to take a pretty dim view of. I have no doubt that many people perjure themselves every year - it's human nature to try to lie your way out of trouble. But if you get caught doing it, you have to expect to have the book thrown at you.

[QUOTE]Yes, its obviously designed as a deterrent.

It'd hurt, but its better than going to prison

Good on em, to be honest that's purjery !!
I don't remember the article saying that she had lied under oath in the court.

I would consider that this is a breach of her human rights, as there is no way speeding, or even lying about it, warrants a prison sentence, which would inevitably lead to her losing her job. Human rights, as defined by the EU (This is probably the only EU directive with which I would agree.), requires that punishment should be proportional to the crime.

Her original crime was to drive a few mph above the limit. As she was on 9 points she could reasonably expect to loose her licence and therefore her livelyhood. Lying to protect this can hardly be considered surprising, and further demonstrates the complete failing of the current government's attitude towards minor traffic violations.

I should like to know how many of those who refer to the issue of her perverting the course of justice, would not themselves do the same if they were in her position.

Given that she is a nurse, she obviously cares about people's wellbeing, as she is not likely to have become a nurse for the financial rewards, education would have been a far better option in this case.

However, given the current emnity between the government and the judiciary in the UK, I wouldn't be surprised if she has been used as a $$$$$$ to further damage Tony bLiars reputation.

I am just grateful that I do not live in the UK at the moment.

What, you mean in the same way as its deterring OAPs from not paying their council tax?

if you DO read all of the thread

you'll see that she wasn't imprisoned for speeding

Fair enough, however I do remember a pair of motorcyclists who were caught and sent to prison for speeding.

Glad to hear she didn't go to prison.
