TBH, I'm sure that this fact didn't do her any favours when it came to sentencing.

it's like saying whacking someone once round the head is the same as stabbing them 15 times so long as they survive.. its all 'violence'..
It's all perjury at the end of the day either you think it's ok for someone to lie or you don't, I think the sentence was a bit harsh but I don't feel sorry for her, I think she was a stupid t*rt. Bet she doesn't do it again.

so you didn't go to jail to get skull f**ked by some reprebate for 6 months? Good man.
although I'm only a young'un I can't believe how many people nowadays are unable to take responsibility for their actions.
I got pulled over on the A1 about 3 months ago, the police officer asked "I'm sorry to pull you over son as you appeared to be having fun trying to deafen the gentleman infront of you, but did you undertake a car about 1 mile back, please bare in mind I have video footage of you for the last 10 miles" My answer...
A) it wasn't me, it was my clone
B) Erm pass, I'm too drunk to remember
C) Yes officer, I had been stuck behind him for over 3 miles and he's been doing 60mph in the right lane with nothing to the left of him and to be honest I was more than slightly f**ked off, more so with his inability to take in his surroundings. for example he managed to ignore the S2000 30 foot off his bumper for a good 3 or 4 minutes sitting at 7000rpm revving hard to make itself noticed and indicating right all the time
I asked if he had to undertake to get passed and he just smiled .......
He chuckled, said he's impressed that I was honest, told me it looked like my rear tyre was slightly low in pressure, said he like the interior colour combo, asked how big the boot was and drove off.....
Now I'm sure if I'd been an arse he would of smacked me with a ticket.

the problem is that if you administer a mere slap on the wrist for perjury, you would set a very dangerous precedent
swearing on the bible isn't the point
telling the truth is
and people have to understand that if you lie in court (or to it), then you will face very harsh penalties
and it's worth thinking about the problems we face in society at the moment in terms of the general disregard for laws - take littering for example
many people claim that some more draconian punishments would be appropriate
well here we're seeing that in action
can't have it both ways

NOTHING in this world is black and white, it's just opting out of using your brain.
if you take a paper clip home from work you're a thief, just like if you steal someones car or rob their house?? that is what you're (all the jailers) saying. although these days a minor driving offence can get you more time behind bars than either of those apparently.
still, at least the majority see it as ridiculous.

If you had lied to the officer, do you think six months in prison would have been reasonable?

irrespective of what I believe is 'reasonable' to go to prison for, I wouldn't have lied in the first place. It's like these people that run from the cops (on TV in America) for failing to stop due to having a light out or running a stop sign, it turns out to be a 1 hour chase ending in spike strips and a shoot out. Just pull over ...... tw@ts

Blimey Graeme. i thought you were way to chilled out to ever get annoyed

It's just that it's a fact (a rare thing in these type of threads), it's absolutely fundamental to the discussion, has been repeated over and over again and is still being ignored.
