SIMCA returns!
@ the two drunks!I think that this has got to be good for both manufacturers??
For Fiat they will get some mid-size models, albeit they are totally sh1t. I cannot understand how the Sebring made it to the factory.
But at the same time it provides a route to market in the US for the excellent 500 and Panda which I think could actually do well in the US with their trend to downsize?
Can't remember the name but the Chrysler MPV is a great car and provide some reason for Fiat to want to acquire a stake in them?
I don't want to see Fiat go, I am sure Ferrari will still do well and will be snapped up, but I like really like seeing the 500 on the roads.
Not sure I understand this bit
"Under the plan, Fiat would gain 35% of Chrysler in return for its vehicle platforms and technology"
Surely any Fiat platform and technology is going to be better than an American car's platform. Especially as they are partnered to Ferrari. Unless Chrysler have come on in leaps and bounds with their chassis and technology

As I mentioned, the Grand Voyager is a good vehicle and I can understand why they would want it.
But apart from that, the 300C is built on a very old W124 E-Class platform. The Sebring is new, but the car is terrible.
The 4x4's are probably decent, but thats a deteriorating market.

When they last looked at an alliance, it was for Chrysler to adopt the Tempra as a platform. The problem was that the Tempra was too sophisticated and expensive for a small US car, so it floundered and Chrysler did the Neon instead.
This helps explain why US cars are usually such shit.
Things may have changed a bit since and Euro cars are now made in the US; Fords as Mercuries and Opels as Saturns.
