sounds sensible.

Try and check the paint in & out of direct sunlight if possible.

Look for a built up of paint around the sills e.g door linings where new paint may meet old.

So the joke continues

Its nearly 3 months, Im on my second hire car - actually really want the M3 back now as the novelty has worn off.

I actually saw my car, completed through the fence the other day...............however.............apparently they need some cable to plug the battery in or some such - BMW UK dont have any so one has to be brought in from Germany - why didnt they think about this 2 months ago??

The cable is due in on the 17th, I bet I still dont see the car till next week. Pretty fecked off with it all now - I hope my personal injury claim goes through the roof.

************** Oh my god Ive got my car back****************

So first impressions - it looks pretty good! Panel gaps good, blend of paint seems good, interior and boot fit seem ok so far. Unfortunately they've put a garage branded rear plate on it - bit of a give away as to what has gone on ! and no M3 badges - Ill get them later but I quite like it without as it has M3 on the plate anyway.

I have no idea why its taken quite so long in all fairness - and they couldnt really explain - the insurers were slow by all accounts........

Anyway, Ill hang on to it for the summer I think and age it up a bit - its bloody shiny right now and could do with looking slightly less spotless.

IMO, M3 plate and no badges = wannabe.

Get some badges, lose the loser plate.

you will get more hassle from other drivers if doesn't have the badges on it

the assumption being that you are in a 318i

I know this from experience of an M3 I owned

So then..........

Im sending it back, after getting another opinion from RR at the weekend Ive decided the paint just isnt good enough - it is orange peel central.

Im sure the body shop will love me, it was due in today to fix a number of minor issues however I called to say I wouldnt be bringing it in. I now need to call the insurer to tell them Im not happy and they need to fix it...............

Not sure what the reaction will be?!
