Speeding Fine

I'm not after sympathy but thanks anyway, just having a quick rant. I can't condone what I did so I held my hands up & replied promptly to any correspondence received.

As for insurance, I accumulated 6 points this year (first points ever and the first 3 were the first weekend I had the S
) and on renewal this month, it neatly "wiped out" my 4th year's NCB, ie my insurance didn't change more than about 50 quid.
Hmm, I'd be with the others about the excessive speed in a 30mph but I suppose there MAY be mitigating circumstances... one of my convictions was for 45mph in a 30, and it was six days after getting the S2000. I really didn't expect the car to pick up that much speed, but it's no excuse. I have always had my own rule to NEVER speed in built up areas, as I would be devastated if I ran a person over.
I went from 6 to 9 points about two years ago and when I told Tesco about it, the girl said: "It makes absolutely no difference to your premium, sir, as we have so many drivers with speeding convictions."
Albeit all of my points are for minor breaches of the speed limit (ie 3pts,

Only 54 in a 30 limit!!
In future please try harder. If your going to break the speed limit, at least do it with some style
Not surprised the "rightous" brigade turned up to wag their fingers at you
As Richard Hammond proved, excessive speed does NOT kill before anyone posts that lightweight argument

J8mie - I don't particularly care what speed anyone does. Just, and having re-read Mart's post I'm not implying him, coming on here to whinge you got caught doing nearly twice the speed limit is tough shit.
Not the "rightous" brigade.
If you do those speeds and get caught tough. Do what you like just don't come home crying to momma that Mr bad-man-policeman got you. If a static camera got you AND you know the road and thick do you have to be.
I.e. don't whinge about your own stupidity, righteousness has nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I wouldn't say it was righteous either. I speed in NSL areas all the time if I think it is safe, but driving quick in 30 and 40 zones is stupid. You might be in perfect control, but people on the pavements can do anything...
not all 30 and 40 zones are urban zones
example
the A259 coast road between Shoreham and Southwick
it basically bisects amn industrial estate
sure, during the day, there is a lot of traffic entering and exiting site
although a pedestrian would be an incredibly rare sight
forget night time - pedestrians just don't walk there (or any more than they would along the side of a d/c)

We have a similar situation in our village, where the 30 zone extends around half a mile beyond the village. I'd think most drivers would be doing 60 by the time they got to the NSL sign, therefore twice the speed limit and images of zooming past infants school at breaktime.
