Speeding Fine
Yes, I'm well aware that 30 and 40 zones can be inappropriately enforced. I think the vast majority of them in the UK, though, are within built-up areas. But as I said in my first post, I am sure in some cases there are mitigating circumstances.
I'm certainly not preaching from a soapbox here. I'll quite happily do outrageous speed on open roads, which has no real justification either. It's just that, if I were walking along a pavement and saw a car go past 24mph over the limit, I'd think: "Tosser."
Just the way I am, I suppose. I have sympathy for Mad Mart though, because ALL my speeding infringements have come in similar circumstances, when I have 'switched off' and drifted above the limit at the wrong time, rather than the times I am actually on one

My 1st offence in 30 years (points weren't around then, just endorsements). If you say that is lenient then the Magistrate must have taken my mitigating circumstances on board.
Yep - that would make sense.
I think it does depend on the road and the time of day.
06.00am on a summer morning on a NSL road - 60mph? Eeeeerrrrr yes your honour
It does sound very lucky to me - not sure if insurance companies would regard that as a "minor" speeding offence. It may dpend on how they each assess them.
Arguably, 6 points accrued through being done twice for 72 in an NSL 60 is less serious than 54 in a 30 (from a risk perspective).

Bad luck Martin - don't know the circumstances but with all the ridiculous 'creep' of 30 limits these days it's probably a case of "there but for the grace...." for most of us (the ones who stop to think before jumping in to judge that is....).
