TWibs how did you get them to agree to this - would be interested to know what approach you took?

Finally got a response from Honda UK. Probably as expected. However I am definitely not paying £450

I do understand that you feel that this fault should not have occurred in a vehicle of this age, however due to the vast amount of mechanical components that are used in the structure of a vehicle we can never say the part will be guaranteed for a certain length of time. However due to a firm belief that customers should be covered for a period of time in the event of a failure all our vehicles are supplied with a 3 year or 90,000 mile warranty (which ever comes first) from the date of registration.

Having contacted our Technical Department I can confirm that the front gators are classified as a wear and tear item and therefore Honda (UK) cannot provide any further assistance on this occasion as your vehicle falls out of its manufacturers warranty.

Whilst I appreciate that this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, I hope I have been able to explain the reasoning’s behind the decision.

Thank you once again for contacting Honda (UK).
