Takes my main bag with the woods/metals out but if I'm just using my pencil bag, it goes in no probs. Certainly more capable in that department than most of the VAG stuff. I've loads of friends that bought Audis and VWs without doing the golf bag test and were nearly driven to return the car. (Of course their badge snobbery ultimately mean they kept their ill-suited cars ...)

Is yours the Sport model? If not they're still quite nippy, so I read. What engine you got?

Boot is small but seat folds down in a second if you need to.

I have found a slight flaw, my lower back is hurting and think it's the upright position compared to the S! Might end up having to change the seats

You probably need the Sport!

I find most standard car seats a bit flat/soggy.

Actually, the Jazz ones seem OK...

Mine is a 5-dr 1.5L Swift GLX. Alloys and aircon are all the only mod cons as far as I can see.

I refer to it as a poor man's Honda Jazz and whilst it seems reliable enough, I was initially put off by what seemed like excessive road noise intruding into the cabin, presumably the result of poor quality or less insulation. Two years into my ownership, I really don't notice it any more, but that may also be due to the recent replacement of the front suspension bushes, which have really smoothed things out. (I went the wishbone replacement route rather than new bushes; more expensive on parts but substantially cheaper on labour)

The thing is it's fun to drive and with its wheels at the corners, has almost go-kart like handling. I say almost as I've driven better ...

What are the weakness ,if any, on the suspension? Not looking for handling,60kmh limits here! More interested in ride and durability.

It doesn't feel too much like a boat going round corners! It's a comfortable ride

Have been trying to push a bit more over the past couple days to decide if it needs lowering! Compared to other small cars I've driven pretty good but sure others have much more experience than me.

The sport must be better

I've swapped back to the S for the next couple weeks until my drive is done, really quite sad to leave the Swift back at mum's.

Anyone know if it would cost a bomb to install air conditioning? Seriously who doesn't go for that option in a new car??!

In which case I doubt you'll find much to complain about. I mentioned above about the road noise which I'm sure it down to less or inferior quality sound deadening material, but I've got used to it and it's really not a big issue. To illustrate, if I drove over a recently gritted road in my old Merc or something a bit more substantial, I'd hear the salt pinging about in the wheel arches but it sounded distant. In the Swift, the noise is much more metallic and in your face. So ... just don't drive on loose gravel or road salt ...

It's go-kart like up to its limit but then understeers pretty badly, and perhaps earlier than the best in class. I put Vredestein Sportrac3s on all round when I first got it but felt they weren't great, particularly in the wet. I switched to Dunlop Sports for my next fronts but I didn't find them much better. Recently put Sportrac5s on the front and they're better, but probably only because they're new.

Let's be real. This isn't a track (day) car ... It's just a nippyish, reasonably well-appointed and well built town car that's nice to look at on both the outside and inside. I still stick by my "poor man's Honda" description ...

I'm guessing that air con was an option, so it shouldn't be difficult to install.

Try and find a forum or breaker who has removed the air con system a few times - they ought to know the process, and will obviously have all the parts.
