I've had 55-plate 3.0d X3 SE, a 56-plate 335d coupe SE (on 19s), a 07-plate Z4M Rdstr and a 08-plate 135i M Sport Conv over the last three years and ALL of them had similarly jarringly-hard rides - with the X3 being the least hard of the four as it goes. Small potholes felt absolutely fecking AWEFUL in the 335d and 135i
There isn't too much difference over pot holes than in my last S2000 - it is harder due to the stiffer side walls on the tyres, but the ride doesn't jar as it does in the 335d. (I suspect the 135 convertible was bad due to it being a convertible, as our last 330 cab was terrible compared to the coupe).
The Z4M roadster is even better as it's not on RFT's.

Nice car and gorgeous alloys, but the 19's are RFT's too.
We have got 19" RFT's on our 335d and compared to my 135i the ride is shocking on crappy roads.
Traction will be an issue with the 535, so I would get an old Landy as a beater.

I own a 520d with optional 19" 172 rims from new (same wheels as car pictured above), part of the reason I opted for these rims is they ARE NOT run flats ;-)Only mod I was to fit original RHD M5 mirrors, which were extremely difficult to source!
My E60 below, colour is Space Grey on a 57 plate

Not what you do

I want a 535d.... but i dont want hay or wellies to be anywhere near it.
Looks like its going to be an X5.
Black or grey post '04 should do the trick.
The 'le mans' 20" rims look good and cheapies can be had for a grand on flea bay
Thanks for the input guys
I have a 56 plate X5 3.0d sport, not the new shape the one pictured above, it was the last of the above shape and came with 20" y spokes and running boards and extended wheel arch trims (again all pictured on le mans edition above). They are great cars and feel so solid, more so than the new ones they really do feel like they are made of iron but suprisingly handle really well, obviously relatively speaking, it corners so flat with little understeer. We have notched up 29k miles and had just one set of rears
