I've driven a couple of E46's and found the steering to be an issue too. You turn the wheel and nothing happens for the first 15 degrees.
However, people have also criticized the NSX for having 'slow steering' which isn't far from the truth, but over time you get used to it.

Agreed on M3CS...and you could get a manual 'box with it too!

As for the steering...I've found that on a test-drive you don't always 'key-in' to the messages coming through if it's more subtle than the really-communicative stuff (Porker, Focus, Integra etc.).

Re: turn-in - REALLY surprised. Did you look at tyre-pressures? Was it both cars?
