A24 north of Dorking has a speed camera on a dual carraigeway. Its a 50mph limit on a dual carraigeway but there is one of those awful crossings at that point so 50mph and a speed camera makes eminent sense.

What doesn't, is the cowardly mother####er who sits in the van 500 yards after the camera. This piece of DC is wide open and leads to a big roundabout at leatherhead. No intersections, no houses, wide open fields....

I saw it yesterday (I don't think he got me as I was on a work trip in the beater) and complained about it at work this morning.

Turns out this van is permanently sited there and has caught at least 10 of my colleagues.

In villages, housing estates and built up areas I agree with camera deployment.

Siting vans exclusively for revenue collection gives me thoughts of violence.

Most people I talk to, too.

And politicos wonder why we'd like to kill them all?

Something about local gov't/authority that corrupts them very quickly.

Never join - they'll get you!

I've emailed them now....

The bloody van nearly caused an accident.

It really doesn't pay to be law abiding in this country does it ?

.... buy a car...clone it and drive around in it. If you're caught, you'll get a caution or a

In Hull, they used to give the 'new arrivals' a grant to buy the car, to crash uninsured into other people's.

Prescott, for you!

No, if it wasn't for absolutely every aspect of fiscally-controlled life being nuts, I'd say you were ranting.

But everywhere you turn, they're trying to harrass you.

As Gad said some weeks back; there's likely to be a revolution here soon.

And they won't know why they're being lynched!

"Oooh, don't people like us?"

Moggy,

That's bad.

Put in an official complaint - that actual officers on the ground will most likely be on your side.

I did research after same happened to me and the law states van can stop and use speed gun etc within 1 mile from an accident hotspot / fixed camera point IIRC..

I understood if further than a mile from hotspot it wasn't allowed..

Going back a while I may be wrong.

Camera partnership for your area will give you all the facts. The Kent one even posts a calendar showing where the van will be for the coming week on website

You're right Nick.

But they habitually break the law over the sitings of fixed & mobile cameras!

It's so corrupt, it's unbelievable.

http://www.surrey-safecam.org/

I sent it to this lot - I assume its them.

Funnily enough I wondered about standing nearby with a big board with "Speed Camera ahead" on it. I figure I'd just be making motorists aware of their speed.

If the 'partnership' are annoyed, surely that's only due to the detrimental effect on their income ?
