Round my way, all the trophy wives ride around in their X5s, Q7s, Merc M Classes, Range Rovers and Cayennes. Doubtless they'll claim to justify their (husbands') purchase on the grounds of safety, but an old Sherman tank would be safer still. I feel sorry for Mr & Mrs Middleincome in their Euro NCAP 5 Star Renault Megane that they pushed the boat out to buy, because it was the safest of the bunch. When Mrs Trophywife piles into them because she was diddling on her iPhone, we all know who's going to collect second prize.

If we're going to have a safety "arms race", let's not base it purely on size or tonnage ...

I just bought the Freelander 2.

I must say its an excellent car.

Bought approved with warranty.

All rounder car and extremely comfortable and 5* NCap safety.

Feisty engines and excellent cosseting ride with little noise intrusion.

Highly recommended (especially over the X3 or other boxes.)

Next door neighbour (utter cock) bought an X5 for the wife

Someone keyed it
She regularly hits the fence with it
Last week she reversed through their garage door with the tow bar

It's f@#king massive. I asked him why he didn't just get a hummer and he laughed. I was serious. Stupidly big car for her and 2 kids. Both of which are gene pool pollution

There are a few Evoques running around my area and on Wednesday evening I had the opportunity to inspect one up-close.

I want one. It's a practical size, is fabulous looking and truly distinctive.

And I'm sure the 2Wd will have the eco-credentials to keep the whinging chipies muted too...

I've just configured mine;



I covet a new XJ - and I can't be alone as JLR are apparently experiencing pretty strong demand for their products. Nice to see a UK based manufacturer who has put faith in good design doing so well.

I actually bought a copy of Car magazine (it's got a lot more back-to-form of late) and Karen correctly identified herself as the target market for the 3-door. She found this so funny, she was almost tempted to buy one out of a sense of irony.

Brilliant the name is an onomatopaeic of retching.

They are actually very good and selling very very well.
My spec is similar to yours only the three door.
The 2WD version is ~115 CO2's IIRC so good on road tax & BIK
Looking forward to offsetting it against profit
The irony is JLR has never looked so healthy since Tata bought them and invested.

I've got a yellow S2000 that looks just like it.

Like MINI, I'm very pleased they're doing well. Even though the products are so disgustingly narcissistic.

I like it, it is great to see JLR, a British car maker making quality products in Britain, a lot like Mini. I think we should be praising JLR for knowing what their market wants and bringing a car that is selling well due to being a quality bit of kit.

As for 4x4s, Dad has a X5 now, but then we live in the back of beyond, down a dirt track, in the winter, you have to have one really.

We shouldnt really praise it imo. It weighs 2350kg, its all styling and nothing else. If its good dynamically it could have been shitlods better at 1200 kg with a lower cog, if its comfy it could have been just as comfy and a lot more efficient

Shat 'car' for 4x4 eejits imo
