2350kg!

Bloody hell Eddie.

I like it (weigh excluded) and would buy one because I like the idea and look of it, nit because of any perceived image or badge issue.

But that weight is surprising.

It needs to be that heavy, it's being marketed as a baby RR.

We looked at the Freelander when we were replacing the Legacy and Defender with one car (it seemed the obvious choice, can tow 2t and looked like it ought to be junior Rangey inside), we decided against because it was neither Arthur or Martha - too soft to compare with the Defender, too cheap inside (at the price we were looking at, £30-35k, but the HSE didn't really come across as 'luxurious' for another £10k either) to compare with the Legacy. I was hoping to look at a 'baby' Rangey, but it wasn't, not by a long chalk.

The salesman suggested that the reason for the 'cheap' interior was that it was deliberately done so as not to steal the thunder from the Evoque. When I asked the price of the Evoque, and he said it was hoped they'd start at under £30k we were interested. Unfortunately we needed a car there and then, not 6-12 months down the line, so we ended up with an X-Trail.
Maybe we'll have an Evoque next.....

Because she'll drive it more than I will. All I want it for is towing.

F**k being seen at the wheel for any other reason, people might think I'm a metro sexual......

The next iteration will be based on "lotus style" bonded aluminium technology according to my source in JLR.
That should make it lighter
Unless they go the same route as Aston and increase the weight of everything else that goes on it

Edit having said that towing weight is directly linked to the vechile weight IIRC

Because she'll drive it more than I will.
And also because it is grammatically correct

I can't find the weight of the Evoque on the LR web site? It's shown in Car Magazine information and other sources as being c. 1600 - 1700 Kgs.

I guess some weight is essential if a 'quality sound' is to be engineered into the premium tell-tale of shutting the vehicle's doors; my Insight and Prius make 'Kling' and 'Klang' sounds respectively...
