You will have to ask Mikey what his similar aged V8 Vantage roadster depreciated by in the year or so he owned it but I am guessing at least £12k, although difficult to judge as he is buying new (I think) and getting a good deal from a hungry dealer who is off the beaten track
£9k in 13 months and 11k miles so not bad Though it likes a tipple at 17 mpg average

Ferrari - Nothing will beat it for a full on true petrolhead sense of ocassion.
Not my experience in this neck of the woods or on the continent

Dave - I've found Wilmslow sales to be exactly that f*cking slow! They came back to me a month after the Exeter guys did me the deal to make me switch. Call Lloyd Newbury @ Grange Exeter mention me and you are an another ex S2000 owner (he has a black 05 one at the moment)

Like you say the 5.0 XKR is a great achievement for JLR but still has the pipe & slippers image. Real shame.

If you want something "unusual" try this N400 limited edition in Metallic "Karussell" Orange
(Exeter could pull it over for you )

BTW your welcome to a blast in the new one in a month or so

Ferrari, if you can afford a good model, no brainer especially for a guy such as yourself Mr Blurter, you should be driving one IMO

@Mikey: re depreciation - I don't quite understand

If they are asking £60k for your old car (well ok £59,995 or whatever) presumably they gave you less in p/x, say £58k tops. I couldn't remember if it was £70k or £72k when you bought (with service thrown in yada yada) but am sure it was one of the two. So hence my calculation of £12k. Sorry and really none of my business really but I am a stickler for figures and like to be accurate when I tell others to help them make a fact based assessment. But hey WGAF

No problem I paid £71k they gave me £62k after 13 months & 11k miles, they put it on at £67k a month ago and have now reduced it to £60k.
It will drop further over winter even though it is still the cheapest 4.7 roadster with an AM dealer.

The depreciation seems to slow quiet a bit after 5 years.
Might not be the quickest V8 but every time you get in is an event.

Blimey WTF do I know about prices ...

£43k 2007 AM V8V Sportshift, £40k for a 2006.

£40k a ten year old Ferrari 360 or two year old Jag XKR.

£37k for a 2008 BMW M3 DCT (which the OP doesn't really like ...!)

So my money is, the boy will be driving an Aston Martin Vantage e'er long

You may well be right 'arsie' but ... although I think slightly higher budget than Daves, I could see him in something like this for sure

or this on budget

Here's a clue - the Ferrari things aint happening

I have experienced the GTR and absolutely loved it but, I fear the running costs would make the cars in my list look "cheap"!

SLK 55 AMG

They sound fantastic. But AFAIK not quite such a drivers tool as the rest of your choice, although probably comparable to a jag.

Boxster R/Spyder? Not a V8, but worth a try?

40k gets you a 996 GT3, depreciation will be practically nil, running costs not too high if you don't track it or do high mileage. Although it's not a V8. Or as new as you'd like. But they are bulletproof.

Dave, if it was me making the choice, it'd be the M3.
