Default Today I bought

Well, since Pol put his post up regarding the Audi he bought I thought I would put mine up with the car I just bought to waft around in now the S has gone, it cost me the same as Pol' A5 the princely sum of £2150 for a circa £40K car when new 15 years ago that seemed like a good price to me. So here she is a CLK 230 Kompressor with only 60000 miles on the clock, and I have to say I haven't stopped driving it yet, so much fun and an absolute pleasure to drive. It is of course a total contrast to the S and that is what I wanted, something that didn't demand my full attention all the while, something to relax in and chill me out a bit on the roads.

It really does especially on the inside, I can't find a blemish inside on any of the leather, the Mercedes AMG over mats, the sills, anywhere, and with the tinted glass and the light leather a very nice airy place to sit I have to say.

It does look very clean! It has only done 13k miles in the last 10 years too!

Looks like a tasteful one - just before the Mercedes-Bling thing started and some of them looked like a whore's boudoir.

How do you find the engine? I always found the 2.3 to be rather a gruff thing and thought a 230.6 would have been more appropriate.

The engine I like a lot, I drove a 330 before the S, that I would say was a smoother engine and a faster car, 6 cylinders makes the difference I guess. Nonetheless, gruff wouldn't be the word I would use to describe it ... although on reflection yes that is a good word to describe it hahah! I do like the engine, pulls well and the gear changes are very smooth up and down through the gearbox. I also agree with you Nick regarding the bling thing, one of the reasons I got this colour in particular was it's a bit more tasteful than the 'shouty' silver ones you see everywhere ... and there was one almost identical in terms of mileage and closer to me but in silver .... I just didn't think I could live with it .... but the style which I guess you're referring too is also much nicer to my eye, nice and curvaceous, smooth lines, none of the creases and rectangular shapes that seem to be so popular these days.

The low mileage is evident in the drive too, seems extremely tight and firm, no rattles (well there was one which my local Kwik Fit did for me free of charge, I asked them to investigate the little rattle as I suspected the heat shield, which fortunately it was and not the CAT ... he kindly offered to spot weld the sheared off bolt, which I accepted, he wouldn't take any money so I bought him a 6 pack of Germany's other great produce 'Becks' ... given the weather today he seemed to appreciate the gesture fully and told me he would knock off earlier tonight and get the shorts on and b=BBQ going .... I digress !!!) It makes a huge difference driving over railway crossings, speed bumps, crap road surfaces in this 230 ...its just an absolute pleasure. On the drive back from purchase (120 miles) the computer told me I had averaged 35.1 MPG which I though considering the size and weight pretty damn good ... ?

Oh, highly appropriate - the beer and the Benz are both Bremisch! Built in the former Borgward plant in Bremen-Sebaldsbruck.

That looks lovely and luxurious, and as mentioned earlier, brand new. Great car, congratulations.
