Just to add to this .... i'd been missing a bit of roof down open top motoring but didn't want to sink a fortune into something.

96 CRX DelSol. 1.6 Auto with a working transtop and aircon. It's as tatty as hell, priced accordingly and will be something to just use for the duration of the 12 month MOT. Pick it up on Sunday, really looking forward to it.

It has some nice spares that will be handy when it eventually dissolves and up until that point is nicely useable. Inside / engine bay are very tidy. I'll bring it to the next meet i should think

Always had a curiosity about those cars UF. I can remember when they came out...

Nice to drive something different from all the boring stuff we see on the roads every day.

Is it mostly Civic mechanically?

Yep. Mid 90s Civic so bits are plentiful and reasonably cheap. As with all 90s Hondas it'll rust like crazy but i've set myself a hard limit on that - NO BODYWORK REPAIRS If i can line up shutlines / grease a seal or two etc then that's fine. Will probably swap out the oil and probably the oil in the gearbox.

We do have another one of these in the family but that one is quite literally original showroom condition and needs to stay that way.

Basically - yes. It's just going to have 12 months of use before it gives up its goods. Every mile i do in this ( which i'll enjoy) is miles not being put on the Fiesta or the Z1000.

And unsurprisingly .... it's a delight to drive.

That'd make an interesting counterpoint to the Fiesta.

EG-EK Civics drove beautifully (alignment notwithstanding!) but even without tired suspension bushes they won't get anywhere near the NVH of a plain modern Fiesta.

Engines have zero torque, but probably sound nicer as a result.

the joy of NA.. there is something special about a good NA but torque often is not it.. unless it's big

the joy of being able to floor it and not risk a holiday at her majestie's pleasure is one we should all lament.

i took the BM to collect some parts from Grantham at the weekend, brief bomb up the A46, couple of junctions. i glance down to a Daily Mail shock, horror headline and ease off. in the equally rapid SCS2 i would have 'felt' that speed and apparently so we should.. ergo i like harshness.. it keeps me out of jail

you can have more fun in that than a Panini Shonda or whatever... on our roads..
