MPG is about 20 I think, I tend not to look. It barely makes Poole to London on a full tank though

Bing maps says 112 miles each way

18mpg!

Must try harder! Tyres is a bit of a worry. These sort of costs make me think this car is a definite dieing breed

Rog, I think I'm in still in that enjoyment stage where any free bit of road is red rag to a bull. I also like the noise. I'm sure an Akrapovic would actually save me money. Leans it out and it sounds nice all the time, so I'd stop flooring it.

I think we need an M3 owners thread btw. Must be half a dozen on here ATM??

The mpg isnt as bad as id thought it would be. I think my older lighter 3.2 e46 m3 did about 18 average

You should defintetly get some sort of MPG thread on the go for the m3 owners... to see who is slacking at 56

Calling Rog... heh
i had it reading 8 once. 1 mile into a cold start.

Manuals are less eco i think. i could justify a switch to DCT based on 2mpg increase. you could easily get worse i think, my commute is mostly nsl.

I did feckin tell you, you were just on a scent and didn't hear.

You tend to dwell longer in gear in the manual (or even in DCT manual) and, in effect, VTEC more

I average 25mpg in mine, it's even increased a little since my recent visit to the magistrates

I do a lot of steady motorway miles though and I get the feeling you don't hang about much

I think I'd be pretty chuffed with 20mpg from a 4.0 400bhp V8.

I get 25-26mpg from my Z4m which has the same engine as the e46 M3.

So going from a 340bhp 3.2L straight six to a 400bhp 4L V8 costs you 5mpg.

By comparison, my 240bhp S2000 used to do 28mpg.

However, who cares You don't buy an M car to worry about MPG.

I was lucky if my 245bhp 3.0 Legacy did 20 mpg.

I got another 100bhp and improved mpg
