Trackday standards

There has always been a total nobber at every trackday that MSE usually have to deal with.
It is usually some Jap whizzbang thing, like an Insane Sylvia.
Last trackday was invaded late on by people in PoS 205/Golf GTis, who'd learned to drove on Xboxes. I f ucked off at that point. They were driving like morons.
Give it 5 years & there'll be a greasy 30-something baldy in a Zafira who thinks he's Fangio & will let no-one past.
I was at Llandow a few weekends ago and had a chance to go out on the track. But given I had to leave by dinner time, I gave it a miss.
I'm glad I did as the standard of driving was shocking.
Inevitable two Westies made contact coming into the bus stop. The scene in the pits was not pleasant. No punches were thrown, but I was expecting a mass brawl at one point.

Was at Brands on Friday and tbh the majority of people were very well driven. Then three trailers turned up with an a J reg 3series an L reg Cavalier and a P reg mondeo
Knew as soon as i saw them they were going to be hassle. Made a perfectly safe overtake on the bmw on the little straight after Paddock into Druids. Next thing i know he nearly takes us both out trying to outbreak me on the right into the hairpin
Then the mondeo blew up and left oil all over the track which took 30 mins top sort out.
Also was the obligitory TVR/Porsche driver who was going 3mph round bends but flat out down straights not letting you come past.

The popularity of trackdays has seen a big rise in organisers as more and more people see the perceived possibility to make a lot of money while doing something fun.
Unfortunately like most things, it's not as easy as it looks and it's even more difficult to turn a profit, especially at the better known circuits, and more so since Jonathan Palmer's Motorsport Vision took many of them over and started doing their own trackdays. Circuit hire is an escalating cost.
So, you're a relatively inexperienced trackday organiser, you hire out Silverstone and it costs you

There will always be nobbers, but you can always limit it too. BaT have always been very good. It's always amusing that on all the open pitlane days I've been on, the morning has been very busy, and the afternoons pretty quiet.
Other than the ring, I'm going to stick with organisers that I know and trust. My car is too important to me.
