Urban Workshop
OK, Finally took the course today.
1st part was an assesment completed on a computer with loads of scaled questions on your attitude to driving, how many miles, how much you consider safe to drink etc etc. Its then mixed with a video assesment where you see a car in various situations and are asked if you drive slower or faster than this
There are then some situations where you have to click when you think there is danger. All of this is filmed from the drivers perspective.
Anyway it spits out a sheet that tells you what kind of driver you are. Apparently I am
Faster than average
Follow cars further away than average
Average at detecting hazards
I using driving as an emotional outlet
I am not unduly distracted when driving (birds aside!).
Then there was a really pointless interactive session where they said if you drive slower you have more chance of stopping in an acident. Could have told them that. There are apparently 320 speed camers in the Thames Valley and only 22 are operational at nicking people at any one time. Their way of telling me I was a bit unlucky.
Verdict boring and not really good at stopping people speeding but better than 3 points. Beaut day to drive out there too. Saw 5 S's!!

The wankers in Dumfries & Galloway and Strathclyde (the main bastards who've done me) don't offer those pussy ass schemes. I wish they did though. I counted and since I got my first license in '97 I have accumulated 18 points!
Just bagged another 3. 9 in total.
Lothian & Borders don't offer this
(ironically all my points are with the S - my first 3 were the first weekend I bought it - summer 2005 - never had a thing for the previous 12 years. I'm sueing Honda...
48 in a temporay motoway roadworks 40 near Bristol, 48 in a 40 scamera van in Reading, now 40 in a 30 on Corstorphine Rd in Edinburgh. Buggeration)

Too late to take out insurance for disqualification too.
A colleague went on one of these courses and said it was good; told you about why the camera's are in particular area's and stuff. He was surprisingly imprssed.
